Mr. Blueberry Madness

While bagging an older man's groceries @ the Joe....I noticed he was buying some interesting things in large quantities...frozen organic wild blueberries : flaxseed oil : unsweetened cocoa powder & lowfat cottage cheese. For some reason this intrigued me. Here was this older gentleman, maybe in his late 60's, with a vivacious smile and personality, glowing skin, and in great shape...I thought, hmm...what could he be making??? Just as I thought this my co-worker asked "what are you baking?". He chuckled and said, "O no dear, I'm not baking, I'm making smoothies...I'm hooked to them! You know, a famous German doctor claims she can cure cancer with flaxseed oil and cottage cheese!"

Before he could say cancer, my mouth was salivating uncontrollably. Although the combination of ingredients seemed a bit strange, I was so intrigued! Not only because of it's alleged health benefits, but because I love cocoa-blueberries-flax AND cottage cheese. I love all of the combination's weirdness and moreover, I loved the old man that was obsessed with his smoothies!

The very next day I bought all of the necessities. Now, Drew and I have been drinking these scrumptious smoothies for two days! I'm hooked! Drew on the other hand, is not quite sold, but that doesn't surprise me AT ALL!

I want to pass along the recipe I concocted along with a link to the famous Dr. Budwig. Click HERE for information on Dr. Budwig.

I hope you enjoy this healthy treat as much as I do!

2/3 cup frozen organic blueberries
4 tbsp low fat cottage cheese
1/4 cup milk of your choice {I use whole grain milk}
-please note: you may have to add more milk depending on your desired level of thickness
1 tbsp spoon flaxseed oil
2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp very green powder {optional}
Blue agave sweet nectar to taste

I start off by putting the milk and cottage cheese in first then add the frozen blueberries and blend. Then I add everything else. Sometimes I need to add more milk, but that's entirely up to you!

This should be enough for one full 16 oz. glass or two 8 oz. glasses!

Enjoy!!
